The Waldo is a cultural anchor on Waldoboro's Main Street, and a vital thread in the cultural life of Midcoast Maine. Ticket sales alone have never covered what it costs to keep a 290-seat historic theatre open, staffed, and vital.

EDUCATION AT THE WALDO
A Home for the Next Generation
The Waldo is a home for the teaching artists and students who fill our classrooms, not just the audiences who fill our seats. Each year we provide theatre arts education to hundreds of young people through InterACT, our after-school program, summer theatre camp, and field trips, plus workshops for more than 100 adults.
Our Youth Programs in Schools carries that teaching into classrooms across the Midcoast. Every program offers scholarships or sliding-scale pricing, because a seat in an acting class should never depend on what a family can afford.
Theatre teaches young people to listen, take risks, and see the world through someone else's eyes. If you believe those lessons matter, your gift keeps that education open to every student in our community.
We believe The Waldo can turn strangers into neighbors, help carry the Midcoast through a long Maine winter, and open a window onto lives we would not otherwise see.

Donor-Advised Funds
(DAFs)
A DAF lets you give cash, stock, or other assets now, take an immediate tax deduction, and recommend grants to The Waldo whenever you choose.
If you already have a DAF, ask your sponsoring organization to recommend a grant, or learn more through Fidelity Charitable, DAFgiving360 (formerly Schwab Charitable), or Vanguard Charitable.
Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)
A QCD lets you give directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) if you're 70½ or older, tax-free and often counting toward your required minimum distribution.
Ask your IRA administrator about making a QCD to The Waldo. For current rules and limits, Fidelity has a clear, regularly updated overview.
