Tanglin’ Hearts is a comedy with country songs about love and longing, betrayal and loyalty, families and greed. When Jesse Wells, a country singer-songwriter returns home to Arden County, Texas after a few years on the road, he finds out that his brother Webb is about to sell their family ranch to greedy local big-shot Ben Fredericks, as part of his massive and destructive recreational development, Benworld. Jackie, who runs The Tip-Toe Inn, a honky-tonk saloon where the locals gather—and some hide away—is the lone holdout against Ben’s unscrupulous plans. As the story unwinds, all are not who they seem, truths are revealed, hearts are mended like broken fences, and the complexities of simple lives carry on….just like in a country song. 

This show is The Waldo’s most ambitious production since our re-opening with a cast of 10 hugely talented actors/singers, a live band, Texas-inspired choreography, and 16 original and amazing songs--some will make you wanna dance, some will make you smile…and some will break your heart.

The cast for this rollicking comedy with toe-tappin' country music includes Nick Azzaretti, Soren Barker, Honora Boothby, Katie Fearn, Carole Florman, Cameron Kinney, Niall Lessard, Skip Simonds, Mallory Smith-Adams, and Stephen Wallace.

This production is the East Coast premiere of Tanglin’ Hearts. Book and lyrics are by actress, playwright, and Edgecomb resident Zora Margolis with music by Peter Spelman. Tanglin’ Hearts, inspired by Shakespeare’s As You Like It, promises to be a fun and funny, toe tappin’ good time for audiences of all ages. The play is being directed by Lynna Henderson with musical direction by Guy Scott and choreography by Niall Lessard. 

Tanglin’ Hearts is being co-produced at The Waldo by George Bates and Zora Margolis.

 

Adult tickets are $20 in advance, $25 on the day of and at the door on day of performance if available. Youth (17 and under) tickets are $10.
