The Waldo uses the transformational power of the arts to build community.
Welcome! We’re so glad you’re here.
When The Waldo’s doors opened in 1936, an unlikely bet in the middle of the Great Depression, it began as a movie house where the community came together to laugh, to listen, and to be moved. Ninety years later, that same spirit of connection still lives here today, now grown to include live music, theatre, stand-up comedy, visual art, and a thriving education program.
Our small but mighty team of staff, board of directors, and over 20 generous volunteers are dedicated caretakers of this historic landmark building and devoted to the community we serve. Reopened in 2021 after decades of closure, we’re proud that it’s once again a gathering place for Waldoboro residents and our neighbors across the Midcoast.
Whether you’re a long-time friend of the theatre or a first-time guest, you belong at The Waldo. Thank you for being part of our community, and we look forward to seeing you at an upcoming show!
*Please remember: The only safe and fair way to purchase tickets is directly from The Waldo Theatre. Third-party websites often charge much higher prices and may not guarantee valid tickets. To avoid overpaying or being scammed, always buy through our official box office or website.
